As you’ve probably noticed, there have been quite a few babies born around here lately! While parent bloggers write about a wide variety of topics other than our children, we certainly do love to show off our new little ones. Let’s face it, they’re pretty darned cute.
But beyond posting several hundred pictures on our Flickr accounts, most new parents also select formal announcements to send to friends and family. Thanks to Magnet Street Baby and their newly re-launched line of magnetic birth announcements, six of our bloggers who’ve recently added to their families each got the opportunity to design and order a set for themselves.
Five out of six babies have been born already, and these mamas (and one daddy!) fortified themselves with caffeine long enough to create their announcements and write reviews. Check them out!
Congratulations go out to PBN co-founder Kristen Chase on the birth of her third child (a little girl named Margot Laine, weighing 7 lbs 15 oz and measuring 20 inches) yesterday afternoon, October 9!
Raise your hand if you’ve substituted ingredients only to find that the meal you’ve slaved over is now inedible. Or if you’ve taken a detour to avoid traffic only to end up hopelessly lost. Some shortcuts turn out great, and some make us wish we’d never tried them.
We want to hear about the shortcuts you’ve taken that took you exactly where you wanted to be.
Speaking of shortcuts, we’re working with Ore-Ida to get the word out about their new Steam n’ Mash potatoes. Already scrubbed, peeled and chopped, just pull them from the freezer, steam them in the microwave, and you’ll have homemade mashed potatoes in 15 minutes!
If you’re one of the first 50,000 people to sign the Retire Your Peeler/Rehire Your Masher pledge, you’ll receive a coupon for $1 off Steam n’ Mash. What are you waiting for? Sign today, mash tonight!
Kids love personalized things. Kids love DVDs. Mesh these together and you’ve got Billy Blue Hair, an animated chap with, yes - you guessed it, blue hair. But what is remarkable about Billy isn’t just his hair color, but rather that he knows your child’s name. Even better, this personalized DVD is educational.
Six of our reviewers got a chance to receive “Why Do Giraffes Have Long Necks?” from Billy and Me, the personalized sector of Billy Blue Hair. The same DVD is available in a non-personalized version, just in case your child isn’t named one of the over 400 available names in stock.
“Why Do Giraffes Have Long Necks?” is a combination of cartoon and live-action. The DVD explores various animals. Billy speaks directly to the viewer - using the child’s name - and asks the child questions to make the educational experience interactive.
