Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter - A Lick Above the Rest

Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter

Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter

For the last two weeks our parent bloggers and their kids have been putting Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter to the test, with some bloggers even doing blind tastings with their kids.

Apparently peanut butter is serious business, people.

Even though peanut butters were  not affected by the recent Salmonella outbreaks, many parents have just avoided peanut products, including peanut butter, altogether. But even without the recalls, conventional peanuts contain an amazing amount of pesticides, something that many parents are not aware of. Sounds like a good reason to try organic.

But unless you’ve got a kid with an allergy, peanut butter is one of almost every kid’s staple foods. And it’s a good one at that - full of healthy fats and protein. It’s practically a kid’s superfood!

Thanks to a recipe that is made in small, preservative-free batches, Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter tastes like the real thing. In fact, many of our parent bloggers felt like they were tasting real peanut butter for the first time.

Not surprisingly, most popular brand peanut butter is full of sugar, so a few of our parents were worried that when their kids tasted the low salt and sugar Maranatha brand, they’d protest. That was absolutely NOT the case! The kids ate it up, some even commenting that compared to other natural brands, the Maranatha brand was just slightly sweeter and not bitter at all. And one mom was pleased that the Maranatha Peanut Butter did not contain high fructose corn syrup.

Even the parents commented about the fantastic, fresh taste - something that they just hadn’t ever tasted in any of the other shelf stabilized peanut butters. As one mom of twins said “This tasted really freaking good though.  It tasted fresh and exactly like roasted peanuts. I’ve never been able to actually taste the fact that they were roasted before.” In fact, one mom said, “It was worth having one tablespoon for two Weight Watchers POINTS.”

Three cheers for no preservatives!

Many of the parents gushed about the No-Stir Peanut Butter, which is a special treat for those who had grown accustomed to stirring their natural peanut butter. If you hate having to mix the oil and the peanut butter together, then this is definitely the brand for you. And if you’ve never had to do it, you might just want to skip straight to the N0-Stir and call it a day.

Since parents are concerned about their budgets, they couldn’t help but note that the price was higher than what they might usually pay for peanut butter. However, they felt as though that the quality was so impressive that it was definitely worth considering. And some parents made the compromise that they’d save it for special occasions or for cooking.

Anne Marie from This Mama Cooks summed it up well: While MaraNatha peanut butter is more expensive than store brand peanut butter, the fact that it’s delicious, organic and no stir have won me over. When I run out, I’ll be purchasing another jar for sure.

Most common peanut butter use–the sandwich (duh!)
Best peanut butter use - add to ground beef with a little chili and serve over rice with chopped apples, coconut and whatever else sounds good for a thai/african/moroccan/whatever sort of easy meal.

  2. I have been dying to try organic peanut butter!
It is very expensive so we are skeptical to try.

  3. I’m a complete PB freak. I keep 2-3 jars open at a time (crunchy natural, creamy commercial, natural w/flaxseeds). I love PB and apple sandwiches and, perhaps more unusually, I add a spoonful to my morning bowl of Cheerios.

Mmm… peanut butter on celery…. reminds me of when I was younger. My mom used to always “make” that for us as a snack!

favorite use for peanut butter by far is peanut sauce for spring rolls! i love maranatha for nut butters, their products are always quality and always consistent. i also love peanut butter for baking sweets… but unfortunately i’m not that great of a baker, i need to practice more :)

  10. I’m convinced. We eat it by the boatloads at our house, so we’ll give this a whirl and see! I’m not a huge fan of the texture and idea of meat, so peanut butter really makes me happy!
