Strawberry Shortcake “Happily Ever After” - Campaign Launch

Strawberry Shortcake Happily Ever After DVDI may pick and choose carefully among the licensed characters designed to woo my children into submission, but I have to admit that I’ve got a soft spot for characters that I remember from my own childhood.  Strawberry Shortcake is one of those characters.

Really, there’s a lot to love about Strawberry.  She’s sweet and kind, and she represents for the redheads, who don’t get nearly enough airtime.

In her new DVD, “Happily Ever After”, Strawberry Shortcake and her friends give us their twist on two classic fairy tales.  These wholesome tales teach little girls about friendship and being an individual.  There’s a lot of pink, but there’s also a lot of good lessons.

Ten of our parent bloggers with little girls at home received a copy of “Happily Ever After” to view together.  Check out what they have to say!

WIN IT!  We’ve got two copies of “Happily Ever After” to give away.  Just leave us a comment and tell us your memories of Strawberry Shortcake (and no, we don’t mean the dessert!) from when you were young.  We’ll draw two winners at random from among all the commenters on this post (US and Canada only, please).

I was a Strawberry Shortcake fanatic when I was little. I had a garden type trellis behind my bed and had every single Strawberry character hanging on it with pipecleaners. I had a bed spread, a bookshelf and I still use the Strawberry Shortcake garbage can from all those years ago. I try to make sure my little girl watches Strawberry on Saturday mornings. I want her to love it as much as I did.

  3. Erin says:

I heart strawberry and all her dear friends.
My fav. was her makeup line….
I can smell the glittery lipgloss now.

  4. sandy says:

I do not remember it as a kid but remember watching it with the older ones and thinking how cute and finally something besides violet male cartoons.

  5. Heather says:

I have such fond memories of Strawberry Shortcake but especially my little doll who’s hair smelled like strawberries! (Of course!)

  6. Shan says:

I remember playing Strawberry Shortcake for endless hours with my cousin. Also Strawberry Shortcake was great, but Apricot with Hopsalot was my fave.

  7. Stephanie says:

Oh, I remember the smell of my little strawberry shortcake!!! YUM! I think I had given her the My Little Pony to travel around with too… guess I thought she needed transportation!

  8. Joyce says:

I was still really young when the show was on, but I do have one of those Strawberry Shortcake figures, and for some reason played it along with a little Sprite figure (from Rainbow Brite).

It looks like this: http://www.stufffromthe80s.co.uk/images/strawberry-shortcake-doll.jpg I’ll have to look for it for my daughter to play with. =p

  9. Delphine says:

I remember she was plumper and old fashioned. She reminded me of Raggedy Ann and I LOVED her. I had a projector with Strawberry Shortcake slides and remember vividly showing my friends that came over and everyone oohed and ahhed. (we thought that was cutting edge technology lol).

Now girl 2004 and girl2006 are big fans, we have almost all the modern episode DVD’s, it’s hard to find good programming that gives a wholesome message.

  10. Calee says:

I don’t think I was allowed to watch the Strawberry Shortcake cartoons. Was there magic? Too much sugar? Even my mom can’t remember why that show wasn’t allowed. I did, however, have a doll with a scratch and sniff dress. Yummy.

  11. Brooke D. says:

My favorite thing of all time was Strawberry Shortcake when I was little and I still have my Strawberry Shortcake 20 some years later!
Now my little girl loves her and even looks like her! ;-)

Thank you so much for the chance! Have a lovely night!

I used to LOVE Strawberry Shortcake when I was little! I especially remember I loved the smell of their hair. And all of their different-colored hair. Also, one time my dad brought me home a generic doll similar to Strawberry Shortcake, which he’d gotten from a vending machine somehow. Its arms and legs kept falling off!

  14. Emily says:

I remember Strawberry Shortcake in the sense that I never got to play with her! All of the Strawberry Shortcake dolls were my sister’s and she rarely let me do anything but hold them for a second and smell them. My daughter received one S.S. DVD for her birthday, pulled out the liner, and goes, “Ooh! Smell it Mommy! Smells good!” Gotta love those scented toys!

  15. I remember Strawberry Shortcake being everywhere when I was young. I particularly remember a favorite school notebook that had a plastic cover and a raised, textured picture of Strawberry Shortcake on it. My sister and I also spent hours playing with the dolls.

  16. Corey says:

I had a SS sleeping bag. The thing went everywhere with me. I don’t remember the cartoons…we didn’t have cable and only picked up two channels, so that might have had something to do with it.

  17. Annmarie says:

I remember the little resin figurines of Strawberry Shortcake & her friends. We used to collect them, along with Smurfs.

  18. Cam says:

My first bike was Strawberry Shortcake and I had all those dolls you squeezed and they blew scented kisses. I have two girls now and I love that all the things that were dear to me when I was their ages are coming back around.

  19. Janice says:

Strawberry shortcake doll who smelled wonderful. My daughter loves her!

  20. Louise says:

I remember watching her, I remember her friends, and the bad guy, not their names or anything, but she sure does look a lot different now

  21. I had the dolls when I was a little girl! She looked so different back then though. My girls love watching the DVDs now - I’d love to win this one for them! :)

  22. Staci A says:

I remember having my bedroom decked out in everything with Strawberry Shortcake and playing with the dolls when I was little. She’s changed so much since then, but I love the message her show sends.

  23. [...] the Strawberry Shortcake “Happily Ever After” DVD, as well as the comments left on the campaign launch post, it seems many of us remember the little red-headed doll quite fondly: “I had several [...]
