Pingu On Thin Ice - Final Round Up!

Since reading the first round of reviews for Pingu On Thin Ice, I admit to being totally intrigued by this adorable little penguin, his hilarious language, and his mischievous adventures. Granted, I’m not sure if I want to give my daughter any more ammunition, but it sounds as though Pingu is a fantastic addition to any preschooler’s DVD library. And considering he’s the #2 Show on PBS Sprout, he’s got to be doing something right.

Best of all, he’s a hit with parents and kids, something that’s pretty hard to come by these days! Parents reported laughing out loud to Pingu’s silly language and funny antics. And their kids had the same reaction!

If you’ve never heard or Pingu, or like some of our parents, have been searching for him (if you don’t have PBS Sprout), then this is a must have DVD!

Here’s what our bloggers had to say about this new 60-minute DVD:

- “The show itself was silly fun, and the clay-mation reminded me of episodes of Gumby from my youth. I also dug the family dynamic presented. Even though the father penguin was shown going off to work at the post office, he also did plenty of helping around the house, including the knitting!”

- “This is one of those DVDs that didn’t bug me to death. I’ve always loved claymation and Pingu satisfied my claymation craving. I liked that the episodes were short and that there were a lot of them.”

- “I don’t think I have ever heard my boys giggle so much as they did when they sat (together holding hands) watching this DVD. What I love about Pingu is that he isn’t just a character always trying to teach how to behave. He has fun too.”

- “The show is as adorable as I remember and The Poo wants to watched it over and over. Which doesn’t make me crazy, like some of her other favorites, because the story lines are sweet, funny, age-appropriate and they will make you laugh, too.”

- “Kids will enjoy the slapstick humor of the program without parental guidance, but the teacher in me had to come tromping out and turn Pingu into a learning opportunity about gestures and vocalizations we use to communicate emotions.

- “So, if you’re looking for a new video to keep the kiddos entertained while you shower, do laundry, or cook dinner, this is a great one. If you don’t want stuffed penguins reproducing all over your house, Pingu is a good choice. At least until he catches on and the merchandise starts “sprouting” from the shelves!”
