With parents turning off the television and turning on their dvd players in order to control the massive amounts of advertisements that bombard their little eyes, we’re always on the look out for new educational dvds that aren’t actually television shows. While it’s definitely nice for kids to see what’s happening on the popular stations, it’s a nice change to find something new and different that won’t cost us extra dollars in tons of gear.
Thus is the case with Wheels on the Bus: Mango’s Big Dog Parade, the newest DVD in an award winning series, this time featuring the voice of Roger Daltrey as a bus driving dragon. Our parents (and their little ones) have been watching this dvd and have much to share.
Overall, the bloggers were pleased with the music. “The songs are fun and entertaining. The only one that started to get on my nerves by the twentieth time I heard it was “The Wheels On The Bus”. Otherwise the other songs are quite catchy.” Another mom said, “Full of singing and dancing, this will get your kids up off the couch and have them dancing right along. Even my 1 year old got into the action!”
Also, the parents appreciated the educational themes found in the DVD. “Mango’s Dog Parade is also educational. Teaching lessons about taking turns, not procrastinating, and eating healthy just to name a few.” Added another blogger “I love that in addition to having fun music, it teaches about sharing and taking turns. Even if they already know the basics, every kid needs that lesson reinforced!”
And while the DVD was packed with educational content, it still held the kids’ attention. “With lessons like taking turns, getting along and listening to your mother I didn’t mind either! There were also segments on insects, counting, and singing in Spanish. It sounds like a lot, but it’s presented in a way that isn’t overwhelming.” This mom agreed. “Kudos to writer Timothy Armstrong for working all of those elements together into a DVD that is fun, not obnoxious.”
While some parents didn’t pick the DVD as their favorite, their kids loved it. “She LOVED Roger Daltrey’s dragon character. She thought that the puppets were about the best thing since sliced bread. The bright colors and music held her attention for the entire length of the DVD. Cara loved the little kids and tried her best to dance along with them.”
This blogger summed up her feelings as follows:
I give The Wheels On The Bus: Mango’s Dog Parade an A+ and that says a lot coming from me. After having four kids and surviving the Barney era I’ve become quite burnt out on kid shows with cheesy songsSee what our other reviewers have to say:
