Of course we’re all happy that Knowledge Adventure’s new educational computer game Jump Start World is lead-free.
You laugh. Based on the almost daily recalls, that’s pretty great!
But every single parent and kid, including our first group of reviewers, who tried this game loved it. In fact, it’s almost a Parent Bloggers Network record.
Take how this reviewer started her post:
“Jump Start World 2nd Grade is a fantastic computer game/learning system. Fantastic. End of story. What? You’d like more information? Don’t you trust me?”
I’d fact check to be sure it was the most glowingly reviewed product here at PBN, but honestly, I’m too lazy and I just want to tell you what our bloggers thought.
Most of our parents had to rip it from the grips of their children. “She’s having such a good time that she barely even notices that she’s still learning.” Added another mom “Other than a brief overnight respite, my daughter has been glued to the PC, and instead of killing mythical creatures, she’s completing learning games and missions. She LOVES this game.”
One blogger’s child didn’t get the opportunity to play (stinks to be grounded when mom’s got a great computer game), but she did say she’s looking forward to enjoying the game with her son.
The program was simple enough for the kids to use it, but challenging enough to keep them interested. “She found it very easy to understand and use. I didn’t have to explain anything to her at all. ” “Jump Start World is not a typical static CD game which has a limited amount of gameplay but an ever evolving system which connects to the internet for regular updates and new challenges.“Another mom with a son with sensory processing issues agreed. “He was able to navigate the game with very little assistance from me and his frustration was kept at a minimum with all the encouraging messages.”
Additionally, the game is personalized and made to work with your own child’s abilities. “I love the fact that the game can be personalized for my children. I think that having their name and information right there engages them right off the bat.” “Two items that are great about this product: if your child is struggling somewhat, the game paces itself to your child’s progress.”
Bloggers appreciated the skills that their kids were learning from the game. “It has already given him a leg up on others in his class before he has even been enrolled in preschool.”
One mom noticed a huge change in her son and shared it with her readers.
And this may sound crazy, but… I’m starting to see a change in him. Normally, if he’s unsure of the answer, my little guy will “play it safe” when asked a math or reading question. Instead of trying to figure out the answer, he’ll just say, “I don’t know.” But now I’ve noticed he’s sounding out words! He feels confident enough to take a chance when it comes to solving his math and reader questions. That’s a HUGE step for him.
A few bloggers did have a bit of difficulty downloading the game, but they felt that it might be due to the age of their computer. It wasn’t a huge hindrance, but since the program is new and quite dynamic, they encouraged folks to read the directions and use persistence!
A true testament to the game is that many bloggers purchased copies for their friends and family. “We enjoyed this program so much that I purchased a copy for both my nephew and niece for Christmas.”
Plus, it’s cost effective and grows with your kids, as many bloggers noted. “ I love that it will grow with my son because I can download new Adventure Packs as his skills advance.” Another added “What I find phenomenal about this CD is just how many different kinds of games, and levels of difficulty, there are. There’s no doubt that Jump Start World will grow with Jack.”
You can find this game (either by purchasing the CD for $19.95 — K, 1st, and 2nd grade, or by monthly downloads) as well as a bunch of other great holiday picks on the PBN Holiday Must-Haves!
