That Baby DVD & That Baby CD: Here’s What They’re Saying So Far

Maybe it’s because we’re all sentimental, nostalgic suckers who love to hear a good Neil Diamond or Bruce Springsteen remake. Or maybe it’s because we’re sick of the weird crazy kid’s dvds and cds out there.

Or better, maybe it’s because we just can’t turn it off.

Either way (sucker or not), our bloggers are loving That Baby DVD and That Baby CD, the newest production from Rob and Lisi Wolf, known for their popular religious dvd and cd “Oy Baby!” Along with singer/songwriter Stephanie Schneiderman, they’ve put together a visually and musically entrancing dvd along with an accompanying cd.

As a bunch of our bloggers noted, Rob and Lisi are parents themselves with a passion for music and kids. “This isn’t a global company just looking to make a buck, these are parents who have created something unique and of the highest quality.

Many of the bloggers got a kick out of hearing their kids singing some of their own favorite songs. “My daughter singing The Boss? Singing in her precious little voice, “Pony Boy, Pony Boy, won’t you be my Pony Boy? Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up, whoa, my Pony Boy.” Now, that’s priceless.

And even the bloggers who weren’t fans of these songs before still found the music enjoyable. “Now, I’ll be honest . . . I was never a big fan of some of these musicians (I can hear the booing already!) but I have to say that I really did enjoy these remakes of some very popular songs.” Another agreed. “If you’re into Neil Diamond and Joni Mitchell, though, I expect you would enjoy the music because the vocals are gorgeous and the arrangements are well-produced.

Even musicians, myself included, approved of the song choices and presentation. “Barry is a musician - as was I in a former life - so we won’t listen to just anything. I adore the songs they chose, as well as the musicians.” Another added “I want to say that coming from a family of musicians, I have to respect the musicianship and talent of Stephanie Schneiderman and the rest of the artists on this project. These guys are phenomenal! The arrangements are also very creative and well done. I was truly wowed the first time I heard the music.

And the non-musicians with very high standards were happy. “We are big music fans in this household, so I had high expectations. Luckily for me, these products lived up to my expectations.” “This is the kind of DVD and CD that you won’t mind listening to whether it is in the background of the living room or in the car.” “I love having an alternative to turning on yet another episode of whatever flavor-of-the-moment kids’ show my daughter is clamoring for.

In regards to the DVD, the bloggers had much to share, comparing it to “those other” dvds,” as well as offering what they liked most.

- “This is not like “That Other” video for babies and children. This is much, much cooler. It is much more sophisticated, while remaining kid-friendly; and it is very “artistic.

- “In short, it’s a breath of fresh air when compared to some other music DVDs. The illustrations are well done, and the interaction between the kids and the music has Sydney up and dancing all the time

- “We’ve been watching THAT Baby DVD as a chill out movie. Well paced but not overly stimulating means my 9 month old loves it as well as my 4 and 5 year olds.

- “Aside from the great music, I love how it contains positive images for children to watch as they listen. You’ll see a mix of cartoons and actual images of children engaged in fun activities, such as playing in the garden or reading a bedtime story with their parents.

- “The quality of the video is excellent–the tunes are set to images of children playing and puppetry, as well as animation.

- “Both my kids prefer actual movies with stories as opposed to videos accompanying music, so I half expected to see that they would lose interest. It turned out that the DVD provided whimsical imagery that actually did hold their attention.

- “Can you say mesmerized? The particular video shown in this pic is my boyz’ favorite: “Brass in Pocket”. It’s a montage of kids lip-synching and dancing to the classic Pretenders song.

- “Beyond the fact that it occupies my kids for it’s entire 30 minute length, I can’t tell you a lot about the DVD since I am usually busy making scrambled eggs with cheese and a waffle sandwich with peanut butter. Sometimes it even gives me time to make and eat my own breakfast and for that I give it very high marks.

Several bloggers appreciated that Rob and Lisi use recycled materials to create That Baby DVD and CD. “I also appreciate the fact that the company uses US recycled materials for their products.” Bloggers were also very surprised and impressed with their return policy. “Don’t like it? Return it - no questions asked. It also comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee if it gets scratched or somehow ruined.

We hope, like this blogger, you are putting this on your Christmas list for not just your friends’ kids, but them as well! And for 20% off (use code “PBN“) you can’t beat it.
