Printakid Personalized Books for Children - It’s All About You!
Many of us who are parents now share the same memories of mediocre personalized books (although one rare blogger notes that “the two personalized children’s books that my parents bought me [are] keepsakes that I really treasure from my childhood“). Even so, they had great appeal in that narcissistic way that young children appreciate most. One blogger, who didn’t receive such a book as a child but whose older sister did, was so disappointed that she took revenge: “I swiped it, hunkered down in our bedroom when she wasn’t there, took my eraser and feverishly wiped out every reference to her that was in it and penciled in AMY everywhere it said ANGELA. It seemed like a good idea at the time.”
Printakid is changing the way today’s parents view personalized books. Our bloggers were again very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the books they received:
- “Personalized children’s books have come a long way and I am thankful for the opportunity to allow my child to experience his own exciting literary adventure.“
- “These personalized books for children not only met my expectations, but reached moon and stars beyond them.“
- “I like the personalized dedication - great for gifts.“
- “I really liked the level of detail I could customize.“
As before, the bloggers agreed that “with a very user-friendly website, ordering is easy. Choose from six stories, provide a few details describing your child and some names of friends and family.” They also loved how the books create a snapshot in time of a child’s life: “This book manages to cram all this information in while creating a lasting memory for my daughter regarding her childhood. It’s done well too. While we may move away she will always know who her first set of friends were because this book immortalized them throughout its pages.”
The parents were somewhat divided on the writing, the illustrations, and the stories themselves. A few bloggers commented on the anonymity of the supporting cast: “It initially struck me as odd that all her friends in the book we ordered were totally covered up - a knight in full armour, an eskimo-esque fisherwoman in a hooded parka and a desert dweller with a full head wrap - but I suspect it won’t be difficult to explain to [my daughter] that it’s her friends in dress-up.” An eagle-eyed nine year-old zeroed in an unidentified rabbit: “He also wanted to know WHO THE BUNNY WAS because there was a picture of a bunny on the cover on the book, but no one in the book was the bunny…he asked at the beginning of the story, during the story and at the end. Pretty observant, I think. They never said who the bunny was, was [my son's] last comment after reading the book.”
A mother and daughter who received In the Kingdom of Nevernight both admired the story, for different reasons: “[My daughter] thinks it’s fun that there is a book about a princess who looks like her and has her name. I also like that this isn’t a story with a passive princess waiting for her prince to save her - she marches right out to take on any challenge.”
One mother described the title Laughing All the Way to School as “a zany tale about [my daughter] and her classmates turning into animals while at school one day. [My daughter] learns throughout the course of the story that the only thing that can change them back into people again is the gift of laughter.” Two others found the same story less appealing; one commented, “Funny enough if you’re under five, I guess,” and the other described it as: “People turning into animals and the school overrun, until the star of the story figures out that laughter will save the day. It reads like a storyline from Cirque Du Soleil.” But she went on to conclude, “…with an illustration that looks like my kid, and her name throughout, she didn’t find anything amiss. And hey, if she’s happy, I’m happy.”
And you can bet that the kids are happy, particularly the younger ones:
- “I knew my daughter would flip over a book starring her.“
- “…she just loves the story and that she is the star of the book.“
- “I’ve read this book to my son over and over and he loves it.“
- “…this colorful, sturdy book is now one of my daughter’s favorites.“
- “Hearing the names of her family and friends really made her chatter.“
- “I wish I could have captured the thrill and sparkle in his eye the first time we read his story. He proudly held his head high, beaming with pride from the heroic and brave tale all about himself.“
But the greatest description of a child’s reaction to the book was this one:
Printakid books definitely make a fantastic gift. As one blogger put it: “Now with the holidays coming up, I have my eye on the story called A Wacky Christmas Journey. After all, you can’t have too many personalized children’s books in my opinion!” Go check them out for yourself!

I purchased one of these for my son for Christmas. I, too, had (and still have) a personalized book when I was young. I LOVED seeing my name in the book, and my friends’ names. The quality is great and I hope that my son loves it as much as I loved mine.
I also received a personalized book when was young. I loved it and read it over and over again. My mom still has the book packed away with other momentos from my childhood. What a wonderful idea for Christmas!
