Beauty Confidential Blog Blast - Even Beauty Experts Make Mistakes

If you’ve ever wound your bangs around a curling iron, then sprayed the hot iron and your hair with Aqua Net hairspray to create a perfect pouf, raise your hand. Come on, admit it. Even the hippest among us did it.

What about Sea Breeze? Remember dousing cotton balls with that harsh potion in hopes that it would dry out your zits…but all it did was inflame them further?

Then there was the cosmetics aisle at the local drugstore. I’ve got three words for you: Wet and Wild. Cheapest of the cheap.

For most of us, most of those blunders are far in the past. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ve all gotten the beauty 411. Sometimes the drugstore version works just as well as the department store version. Sometimes it’s worth paying extra for better ingredients and better performance. When we make mistakes - just like Nadine Haobsh, the author of Beauty Confidential, a former beauty editor herself, has done - it’s horrifying at the time, but it can make for a great story later on.

In this week’s Blog Blast, we want to hear all about your beauty blunders. It’s all girls together here, so don’t be ashamed to let it all hang out, even if your biggest blunder happened just last week.

What can you win? The entire list of beauty editor must haves on pages 12-14 of Beauty Confidential:

  • NARS blush in Orgasm
  • Terax Original Crema intensive conditioner
  • Essie Mademoiselle and OPI I’m Not Really a Waitress nail polish
  • Mario Badescu Drying Potion
  • Shu Uemura eyelash curler
  • Bumble and bumble Does It All styling spray

  • Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1
  • Lancome Definicils mascara

In addition, if you post a picture of your beauty blunder, you’ll be entered to win another random drawing: Five lucky winners can ask Nadine their most burning beauty question, and they’ll receive a personal answer!

Are you ready to confess?

My biggest mistake in the past was when I decided to highlight my hair before a nieces birthday. After the alotted time went buy I rinsed it off and my hair was pumpkin orange. My 3yr old and husband were shocked to say and I was hyperventalating by the mistake. I was able to throw another color and tone it down that night. It took another box of color to totally cover it a week later. When I was younger I would have gone with it but not know. I also have been known to have the line around the jaw but have gotten better.

Remember the 80’s .. big hair :) I loved big hair then and I always had perms. My sister in law convinced me that perms were back in last year, maybe they were but not like mine, back to the 80’s hair! I didn’t fit in now, pouffy! It seemed to take forever to grow out.
