Have you taken a hair dryer into the shower? Or put a person in a washing machine? Or tried to eat a rocking chair?
Obviously, many products are potentially dangerous and require specific instructions for use. Sometimes tragic accidents occur that could not have been prevented by the consumer or operator, and legal action is appropriate and necessary. However, the growing number of frivolous lawsuits (fast food made me fat!) have prompted manufacturers to cover all their bases where it comes to warning labels on products.
So this week we’re looking for wacky warning labels - if a reasonable person wouldn’t do what the warning label is advising against, then it qualifies! Take pictures of the labels you find - you’ve probably got plenty of them around the house, but you’ve just never noticed them because you’re a reasonable person yourself - and post them on your blog along with some commentary.
Want to play? Check out the specifics below:
1) Post your wacky warning label entry on your blog anytime today, October 19, before midnight PST. As always, title it creatively!
2) Send us the link to your post - parentbloggers@gmail.com. Be sure to include links to the Sick of Lawsuits website (http://www.sickoflawsuits.com) and Parent Bloggers Network (http://blog.parentbloggers.com) somewhere in your post.
3) We’ll round up the posts here on PBN today.
What can you win? Cash!
One grand prize - $200 VISA/MC check card
Three runner-up prizes - $100 VISA/MC check card
This time, the contest is being judged - we’re not just randomly awarding prizes. An expert panel of judges from Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse will review all the entries and select winners. Therefore, if you want to win, you’ll need to find some pretty wacky labels!
