Kids Are Americans Too - Campaign Launch

I remember when I first learned about the Electoral College, soon before the 1980 presidential election. It was nearly as traumatic as learning that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy didn’t exist.

What do you mean, the people don’t really elect the President? Who are these delegates anyway? How can we trust them to vote the way the people in our state have voted?

The system of government in the United States is definitely complicated, and there’s a lot more to it than what can be covered in a single semester of high school civics class. And shouldn’t kids start learning about it before they’re nearly old enough to vote?

Bill O’Reilly thinks so, and while his personal politics may not align closely with those of many of our bloggers, they do agree that kids ought to learn about how the system works - and sometimes, how it doesn’t. Ten parent bloggers are busy reading O’Reilly’s new book - Kids Are Americans Too - and they’ll share their thoughts on it over the next few weeks.

Will they be surprised by some of what he has to say? Will they agree with him on some points and disagree with him on others? Moreover, will they discuss some of the topics in the book with their own kids? Check out their reviews, and then join us back here at PBN for the mid-campaign post!
