Sequoia Survival - Campaign Launch

As parents, we prepare for all sorts of potential emergencies - from diaper blowouts to bloody noses. We tuck granola bars and mini bubble blowers in our bags. We’ve got pens and paper, juice boxes and animal crackers, and loads of tissues. If our children have needs, we can meet or exceed them!

But what would you do if, instead of a diaper blowout, you had a tire blowout on a stretch of highway where there was nothing but corn fields? What would you do if you were stuck in a twenty mile backup leaving the coast where a hurricane would be bearing down shortly? What would you do if you had a car accident - even a minor one - in the middle of a snowstorm and had to wait for help?

A change of clothing and a juice box are a great temporary fix in a non-emergency situation, but it’s those emergency situations - however few and far between - where preparation can make the difference between misery and relative comfort, and sometimes even between life and death.

Sequoia Survival is a company launched by parents who share the same concerns we all do: How to make adequate emergency preparations without spending a fortune and still finding yourself without the supplies and tools you really need. Their initial survival kits - for both home and vehicle - were assembled using guidance from emergency preparedness organizations such as the Red Cross and local fire departments, and the kits have been refined over time in response to customer feedback.

Twenty of our parent bloggers each received a vehicle survival kit to check out. While we obviously hope that none of them ever find themselves in a position where they must use it, based on their overwhelming interest in the product, we see that emergency preparedness is a common concern.

Please check out the Sequoia Survival website, where you can get more information about the contents of the vehicle survival kit, along with the two- and four-person home survival kits. The site also has additional information as to how to augment your kit based on the specific needs of your family, as well as links to emergency preparedness sites.
