What the heck is a wacky warning label anyway? Obviously, many products are potentially dangerous and require specific instructions for use. However, the growing number of frivolous lawsuits have prompted manufacturers to cover all their bases where it comes to warning labels on products.
Want an example? Here’s a perfect one:
“DO NOT put any person in this washer”?
No reasonable person (we hope) would think to put another person in a washer, let alone expect to successfully sue the manufacturer if they actually DID put a person in there (who was then injured, of course).
So there’s your criteria for finding wacky warning labels - if a reasonable person wouldn’t do what the warning label is advising against, then it qualifies!
But this time, the contest is being judged - we’re not just randomly awarding prizes. An expert panel of judges from Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse will review all the entries and select winners. Therefore, if you want to win, you’ll need to find some pretty wacky labels!
We suggest taking a spin through any home improvement store with your digital camera. You don’t need to buy the item, but you DO need to take the picture yourself in order to qualify. And it’s highly probable that you’ve got plenty of wacky warning labels around the house already - you’ve just never noticed them because you’re a reasonable person yourself who would never think to put a person in a washer (no matter how many tantrums they’d thrown that day).
Want to play? Check out the specifics below:
1) Post your wacky warning label entry on your blog anytime between now and Friday, October 19. As always, title it creatively!

[...] Nupercainal? It’s for hemorrhoids. So, you think I’m a pain in the what? I was a little bit embarrassed to buy this, but I just had to do it. I explained at great length my motives to the clerk who checked me out. I told her that I didn’t really need hemorrhoid ointment, but I was photographing it for my blog. I had to have it so I could bring it home to photograph for my readers. She looked at me like I was an ass. The things I do for you! Well, I’m not really doing it for you. I’m doing it in the hopes of winning cold hard cash. That’s right. The Parent Bloggers Network and Sick of Lawsuits are sponsoring a Wacky Warning Label Contest. I would like to submit a warning label on a cell phone that cautions: “Don’t try to dry your cell phone in a microwave oven.” You can see it on my website at: http://wackywarnings.com/ Thanks!

I’ve been waiting for a chance to post the warning tag on our LoveSac Rocker. I love the rocker and the PillowSac, and the tag cracks me up.
