Printakid Personalized Children’s Books - Here’s What They’re Saying So Far

Kids love to feel special, there’s no doubt. And while we parents slog away year-round to meet their basic needs, it’s fun - for us and for them - to be able to do something truly unique that they’ll remember for years.

Based on the first set of Printakid reviews, personalized books for children, these books are a sure-fire way to make a lasting impression on a child. The kids absolutely adored them:

Better yet, the parents raved about these books too. One mother gushed: “I wish I had all my brain cells back that I lost during childbirth so I could come up with a hundred ways to describe exactly how much I love the book we received. It was so much more than I ever expected…I can not praise these books enough and I would highly recommend them to people.” Another agreed: “I love this book so much that I keep taking it out after she goes to bed to look at it over and over.” She went on to say that “This is one of the best products I’ve reviewed so far and I’ve never had so much fun doing it.

The bloggers were pleased with the simplicity of the ordering process: “The book allows for customization of your child’s coloring (hair and eyes), friends (up to three) and parents (you make the call on that one.) Five minutes later I was ordered and out the door. Ten days later and I had the customized book with my son’s name as the lead character.” After plugging in all of the requisite information, the bloggers were “very curious to see how they would merge all of the basic facts, such as hair and eye color, friends’ names, and so forth.” But one mother did wish that she could get a better look at what she was getting before she placed her order: “I could select a few drop-downs for customizing my hero, but I couldn’t tell what I made my kid look like. Worse, I left the ordering process with this weird feeling that the book itself is like a mad lib and really wanted to see it before making it a forever kind of thing.” She hopes that “future iterations of the order process offer more of a preview of the book.

The quality of the books themselves is outstanding. One mother commented, “The book is high quality from cover to page, not easily destroyed by frequent reading. Compared to other personalized books I’ve seen, this one is heads and shoulders above the rest.” Others agreed, noting that: “The hardcover book is high quality with great illustrations, bright colors, and nice thick pages” and “The quality of the binding is terrific, the pages sturdy, and the personalizations, like the names of [his] friends and family, are integrated into the text so seamlessly that it’s impossible to guess that the book might have been altered in any way to be specific to [my son].” And one mother really appreciated how the supporting characters are integrated into the story: “The interesting thing about these books is that the STAR of the book is your child. So in the illustrations, parents, other family members, and friends, are always partially hidden, or wearing masks, goggles, helmets - the only fully visible character is your child. He or she is the MAIN character! I think that is really cool.

While the books are definitely sturdy, they may not stand up to toddlers. One feisty little guy who’s not yet two was a little rough with his book: “…you know how well a one-year-old turns a page. My son clearly does not appreciate the hard work that went into creating this customized experience for him just yet. But I think that in three or so years when I whip this book out again, he’ll get it. And leave ripping the pages to a younger child.

A real testament to how well-received these books were, by both parents and kids, is the number of bloggers who either plan to purchase additional books (or already have):

But my favorite blogger anecdote describing their child’s reaction to the book is this one:

When we received [my daughter's] Printakid storybook, she was ecstatic! For a moment, I took all the credit:

Mommy, YOU wrote this book just for for ME?!

I came clean after a minute or so, sheepishly admitting that while I had helped make it, I hadn’t really written it.

We may not be the authors, but as parents, we still get to take the lion’s share of the credit for making our kids feel special. As it should be.
