Word World - Campaign Launch

I’ve been a fan of PBS since I could recognize those three letters. Even now, with all the choices available in children’s programming, PBS is still at the top of my list. And as much as I love some of their newer shows (like Sagwa and Curious George), it’s the classics like Sesame Street and The Electric Company - shows that focus on literacy skills - that have etched themselves in my memory.

So it’s no wonder that I’m really excited about the new show set to debut on PBS on September 3 - Word World! The characters are made of letters - letters that spell out exactly what they are - and they work together to “build” what they need by assembling the correct letters. According to the Word World site, the show is “all about Instant Word Recognition - a visual, non-didactic way to introduce children to the power of words.”

Twenty of our bloggers received an advance copy of upcoming Word World episodes to view with their toddlers and pre-schoolers. We’ll check in with them over the next several weeks to see how they and their children are enjoying this new show - join us in the fun!
