Light Iris Final Round Up: Save the Spam for Google

It seems as though moms have gotten better at saving time. Of course, we should be using that extra time to catch a few zzzz’s or at least, a monthly pedicure. And thanks to sites like Light Iris, we can actually get a little more.

Created for new moms who don’t have a lot of time as it is, Light Iris offers a Google Search Engine that searches only the best parenting resources (including blogs). So, instead of getting 14,000 related articles and only a few that really work for you, you’ll get exactly what you need within the first 10 searches.

No spam. No inappropriate websites. Only what you need (except for blog posts that might suck your time back because they’re so incredibly interesting).

And tomorrow, Light Iris is teaming up with Parent Bloggers to send a lucky person to Blogher (a free 2-day pass worth $200). Check it out and get your post ready to go. And if you’ve already bought your pass, we encourage you to play along — your readers may not have bought their ticket yet AND if you win, you can always generously donate it to someone who didn’t but really wants to go.

Similar to what our first round of bloggers found, Light Iris gets you to the good stuff in a more organized manner. “The great thing about the Light Iris search function is that it’s powered by Google, so you get the same relevant results that you would if you searched Google, with none of the garbage to wade through, so it really does save time.”The top ranked article on the Light Iris search was the seventh ranked article on Google. You get less info per page on Light Iris as well. When you’re holding a screaming baby in your arms and typing with one hand while your left boob is hanging out, less can be more, especially if you’re getting quality over quantity.”

Also, with so many sites out there to make a buck off new [blogging] moms, it’s hard to determine which ones are actually useful and which ones are just out there to suck our attention away from the important stuff. “I will admit, with seemingly so many organizations and corporations trying to cash in on the Mommybloggers, I rolled my eyes at yet another one.  However, I think this site can really be beneficial to new Moms.  If I had to go through Google for so many of the searches that a new mom may have, I weep for these women.  But with the Light Iris Search Engine there really are great advantages for moms.”

One blogging team noted that since both features (Light Iris and Google) were Google searches, it was best to be very specific when searching on Google; you didn’t have to be as specific with Light Iris since there’s no ads or spam. “Would someone really search on “sleep” when what they want is “sleep training”? Would you search on “nipples” if you want to learn about “cracked nipples” or “Avent nipples”? If so, Light Iris might be the best place to start.”

This summary seems very clear as to what folks are saying about Light Iris.

Light Iris uses powerful search techniques, a clean look, and a focus on utility to present the best of the web for parents.  Since I heard about the site, I’ve been using it pretty regularly — and loving it.  Thanks, Light Iris, for helping me save time and energy by weeding through the results and showing me just the ones from trusted parenting sites.  It’s most appreciated … especially at 2 a.m.

Our verdict? Give Light Iris a try — and make sure to submit your blog into the search feature! And we look forward to having you this Friday for the Light Iris Blog Blast — plus a few more other exciting giveaways coming up this month.
