Huggies Overnites: Here’s What They’re Saying So Far

From the time we bring the little darlings home, most parents have resigned themselves to the fact that for at least two years (likely closer to three), they will have to deal with excrement on a daily basis.

Many parents develop quite a sense of humor about the daily struggles to contain their children’s bodily fluids, and our bloggers are no exception.  How about these turns of phrase: ”liquid-drippin’ appendage“, ”full-blast baby-pee-spout“, and “beautifully-dimpled baby ass“?  One mother admits her son “can be rather, uh…craptastic“.  Another described “the very damp waistband-of-doom” and “bursting-to-the-seams diapers“.  Yet another, with a daughter on the verge of being fully trained, is “REALLY SICK OF DIAPERS…[but] finding poo straight-up in a pair of Elmo underwear isn’t so much fun, either.“  And then there are the parents who reach the point of desperation: “…the only way to protect against leaks at night [is] to duct tape a garbage bag around her waist.”

Therefore, it’s not surprising that we had so many bloggers who were so eager to try Huggies Overnites.  Diaper dissatisfaction seems to be a universal problem.  No diaper can be all things to all children (and all parents) at all times.  But based on the feedback so far, Huggies Overnites come pretty darn close to perfection.

And my very favorite of all: “Thirty successful straight nights of complete dryness.  And on the very first Huggies morning, the Hurricane woke up dry, happy, and singing.  I swear. Singing.  And sure, I’m not positive that the singing had anything to do with the nappies, but it was cute.”

Not all of the parents (and their children) were singing.  Huggies Overnites were hit-and-miss with this family (where the husband and wife play rock/paper/scissors each night to determine who changes the child): “I’d rather wake him up and change him knowing that in the morning he’ll be dry as opposed to putting him in an Overnite diaper and wondering if, come sunrise, he’d be wet or dry.”

And our Canadian moms were somewhat disgruntled to discover that Overnites are scarce up north: “I can’t find Huggies Overnites in the stores that I frequent. Do I like them enough to go all over hell’s half acre to get them? No. I am a lazy, lazy consumer.”  The rock/paper/scissors-playing mother commented that “What if I really liked the Overnites and wanted to use them on Oliver exclusively at nighttime? I wouldn’t be able to.

One US mother, whose big guy blew right through the Overnites, was undeterred in her quest and found a diaper soulmate in the Huggies Supreme diapers instead: “I’m soooo in love with the Huggies Natural Fit that I might just drive to the Huggies corporate headquarters and kiss whomever was in charge of developing these magnificent things!”

All other points being equal, cost is usually what motivates parents to choose one product over another:  “As a mother, I look for the BEST diaper, as well as the BEST price.”

For those parents who found success with the Overnites, the value of a good overnight diaper cannot be underestimated: “There’s nothing worse for them (or you) than a 4 a.m. blowout where you have to find sheets, clothes and blankets in the dark.”  And with the freedom to cuddle a bit in the morning without rushing straight to the changing table (or the tub), “it is definitely a great testament to a diaper that you can go for awhile without changing it, albeit accidentally.”

Finally, feedback from fathers can be most convincing of all (especially a father who “once spoke of installing a hose on our balcony so we could just spray [the children] down on occasion“): “I have to imagine that they are more comfortable because they fit their bodies. [The diapers we usually use] are terrible on the fit.”

When a father comments on the fit of a diaper, you know you’re onto something good.

  1. A friend told me about these, and we not only use them at night, we also use them for her 3-hour long nap during the day. I swear that when we change her after using them that they weigh about 2 lbs., but no mess and no leak! Canadians aren’t the only ones having a hard time finding them, though. I live in Kentucky, and have been known to dig through the mounds of diaper packages in our local stores in desparate hopes that they carry them!

  2. We use Good Nites and they are not working on my son. I will have to give these a try. How many pounds do they go up to?

  3. [...] you to PBN and Huggies Overnites for allowing me to review such a wonderful product. And to all that are [...]

  4. I’ve used regular Huggies and really prefer them over Pampers or Luvs - they’re much more absorbent and less expensive, a winning combo. I’ve never tried the overnights, but I’ll give them a try on our next diaper purchase. My two year-old has regular leakage issues and if this would solve the problem, I and my washing machine would be very grateful.

  6. i cant wait to start using these, Levi just moved to size three and this co sleeping mama is tired to changing bedsheets every night.. not to mention all that extra laundry! :/

  7. mmm, this is so interesting to me that these are getting reviewed and getting lots of marketing at the moment. I’ve been hooked for a long time…when my oldest was a tot was started with the leaky overnight problem and huggies overnight was our best solution after fiddling with one size diapers and liners and lots of laundry! I like in some sort of shopper holiday land and we have easy access to Huggies Overnights and all things parenting here in New England. 7 years ago we could only find them at CVS, but now they are all over.

  8. yeah! i love the airplane idea - i don’t know why i didn’t think of that before. in-flight changes are so NOT fun.
